Fighting Not To Lose

Fighting Not To Lose

There is a popular saying when a champion is in a fight and he is not fighting with everything he has.

They say that he is “not fighting to win, he is fighting not to lose”.

That is like most people in life.

Many people are sleeping even though they are awake.

They walk around in a daze and don’t pay much attention to anyone but themselves.

You’re fighting not to lose instead of fighting to win.

Remember Rocky III, when Mickey says to Rock, “You haven’t been hungry since you won that belt!”

Well, you probably haven’t been hungry since you:

– got that promotion

– hit that last personal record

– got financially comfortable

– got married

– your kids went to college

– got that “A” on your report card

Many people forget their goals or forget to set new ones.  Either they are too hard to reach or life got in the way.  Too much work, too much stress from taking care of the kids or just too much of everything…

Fighting Not to Lose

You need to fight like you’re losing.

You need to study like you’re failing.

You need to push harder, like you’re falling behind.

You give like you’ve never given before.

You tell your Mom, Dad, kids, family, friends that they mean everything to you, like they didn’t know it.

Stop walking and start running again.

Right on, Smitty! It is too easy to get complacent. I’m changing my workout routine, hoping to get that kick. Hey, congrats on making the top 100 list, too.

Thanks for putting things back into perspective for me. I am all those things a full time husband, a full time dad, a full time student and a full time employee. Sometimes you lose sight of what matters and priorities get messed up. the juggling act gets tiresome and I need a little push now and again. Thanks for that. Not having a great support system via friends(or so called friends) and most the people in my life are to concerned with themselves to worry about someone elses problems leaves you feeling alone and desperate. I’m glad I can look to my brothers in the diesel community for some much needed support. I don’t want to say I need an attaboy, but something positive would be nice. this was definately something I needed to read.

I had a bad day in the gym today and was pretty disappointed with my effort the past week. Thanks for reminding to get out of the daze and fight to reach my goals!
