UFC 133 – Tito vs. Rashad

UFC 133 – Tito vs. Rashad

As many of you know, Tito and Rashad are fighting again this weekend as the main event for the UFC 133 card.  I am a huge MMA fan and love training fighters, because very few athletes train as hard as fighters do.  They are relentless and give everything they have when they come into the gym — which is exactly what every strength coach loves.

Here is my overview:

Tito Ortiz

I really like Tito’s new intensity after his surprise win over Bader.  From my perspective, I think Tito is training as hard as ever and really has a shot and putting together a few wins in a row.  I’m pretty sure for his camps he goes up to high altitudes for some oxygen-deprived (hypoxic) training and gets some solid fighters to push him.  He is known for his brutal ground-n-pound and he can mess you up in mount.  He is battle tested and has been in the game for a long time.

With that being said, I really think Tito’s conditioning has been subject in the past and he tends to gas after a busy first round (even though on his UFC profile, it lists that he is known for excellent conditioning).

Rashad Evans

Most of the talk about Rashad is about his “ring rust” after coming off a series of injuries.  I don’t see that as an issue because he always comes off a good camp and he HATES Tito.  Rashad is also explosive as hell and I don’t recall him ever having an issue in the 3rd round.

So the big question is, who do you think is going to win?

Rashad by 1st round TKO, Titos been fighting for the $ ( one of the highest paid in the UFC) and shows no real adaption to todays mixed martial arts. Rashad on the other hand wants jon jones blood and im sure see’s this as a warm up fight, no disrespect to you jim but i think hes going down quick.

I have a hard time watching either of them. There is no excuse for living w/o class and good character of which neither have.

Sorry for the negativity Smitty, these two just really drive me nuts when they show such a poor example of what athleticism should teach.

Ego and antics aside, Rashad Evans is going to win.

Rashad should have the speed to beat Tito. He just needs to be careful, because if Tito gets him on the ground Rashad’s done. I am going with Rashad. Tito probably already has 5 excuses ready if he loses.

I think Tito will win this one. His ground and pound is insane and most fights go to the ground. Rashad also has a good chance but i’m going with Tito
